What is an ETF?

If you're new to investing, you may have heard the term ETF. ETF stands for Exchange-Traded Fund. An ETF is a type of investment fund that holds a collection of assets, such as stocks, bonds, or other investments. When you buy a share of an ETF, you're investing in many companies or assets at once. This helps provide diversification, which can reduce risk compared to investing in a single stock. One of the most popular ETFs tracks the S&P 500, which includes 500 of the largest companies in the United States. Instead of buying shares of each company individually, investors can buy one ETF that owns them all. ETFs are popular because they are easy to buy and sell, have relatively low fees, and can be a simple way for beginners to start investing.
